There are 3 levels of aroma or fragrance notes in each perfume. Each level will deliver different scent in different time.
The Initial Impact
Top notes aroma is the first smell after the perfume is sprayed to human skin. This aroma is light and dissolved quickly. The composition is dominated by fresh and fruity smell. This is created to give the first impression, which will last in 5-10 minutes.
The Heart of Essence
After the initial impact, here comes the middle notes or often called “the bouquet”. Usually, middle notes are smelled after the reaction takes place with your skin. It takes about 10-20 minutes for the middle notes to complete the reaction at your skin.
Flowery aroma is often used, such as lavender and rose as the main composition of middle notes. So, don’t be surprise the aroma is softer than the top notes. Basically, the middle notes is covering the unwanted smell when the base notes start to surface.
The Everlasting Scent
The last level is coming out when the perfume is dried up and adsorbed by skin, which about 30 minutes after the spray. The based notes are known to be concentrated and “heavy” and it is actually the main aroma of the perfume. The composition is mainly to “warm” aroma such as musk and woods. This is the everlasting aroma which stays for hours. You can say that the based notes are the ultimate aroma of a perfume.
